This course is conducted under the auspices of APL Group Pty Ltd RTO 3586 t/as LivCor, who will be responsible for the quality and direction of all accredited training and assessment conducted by Redpath Education., as well as the issuing of Statements of Attainment for the units of competency on LivCor's scope.

Course information
First Aid (HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting) qualifications should be renewed every three years, with refresher training in HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) undertaken annually. ref; NT WorkSafe - Code of Practice for First Aiders.
This HLTAID012 Provide first aid in an education and care setting course applies to teachers, educators and child care support staff who are required to respond to a first aid emergencies, including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies, as they apply to infants, children and adults, and is on the ACECQA list of approved qualifications.

Entry Requirements:
There are no prerequisite units. Participants will need the ability to meet the physical demands of providing first aid. Participants will also need oral communication skills to make an accurate verbal report to emergency services and workplace supervisor. Prior to the start of face-to-face practical training, there may be a short knowledge quiz to check language, literacy and numeracy skills, as required. These are described further here in the Foundation Skill Guide extract.
Training and assessment arrangements:
This accredited course is delivered in English (unless otherwise arranged), and delivered over one (1) day, providing participants with the knowledge and skills to confidently recognise and respond to an emergency situation requiring first aid. All courses are conducted either on site or at our training rooms, at a time to suit the facility or the majority of the participants. Applicants must possess functional written and spoken English skills.
- One Day course with on-line learning completed prior to the one-day practical workshop.
- Two Day course (7hrs each day over 2 days) to support LLN needs of participants, or remote area time constraints.
- Other course formats we deliver courses in various formats to meet the needs of workplaces and the participants, please contact us to discuss your needs.
This one day course includes an on-line learning and knowledge assessment (including video and written material) to be completed prior to the face to face session. The on-line work can be progressed in one or multiple logon/logoff sessions, providing a self paced flexible method of learning the theory of First Aid in the comfort of one's own home, at work, or wherever an internet connection is available.
Our First Aid educator observes the participants application of skills and knowledge throughout the practical sessions, during simulated emergency scenarios, contextualised to the candidate's workplace/community settings, and other skill stations both on and off the floor. You will have opportunities to discuss and reflect on your performance during the course, to enable you to demonstrate the requisite practical skills and respond appropriately to written and oral questions
We encourage you to bring your stories into the training session, to discuss your roles and responsibilities, as well as overview your policies and procedures and review First Aid processes in your workplace prior to the course. You do this by downloading and completing a workplace Asthma/Anaphylaxis checklist, as well as an Asthma and Anaphylaxis risk assessment with your workplace (or based on the scenario's provided).
Participants will need the ability to meet the physical demands of providing resuscitation. CPR assessment requires candidates to perform at least two (2) minutes of single rescuer uninterrupted CPR on both an adult + child resuscitation manikin placed on the floor as well at least two (2) minutes of single rescuer uninterrupted CPR on an infant resuscitation manikin placed on a firm surface. Participants will also work in a small team to demonstrate a rotation of operators with minimal interruptions to compression's, while applying an AED during an emergency CPR scenario, on an adult and child resuscitation manikin placed on the floor.

All participants receive a hard copy reference book to assist you in maintaining your knowledge over time. LLN support can be provided to participants on request, which includes additional face to face time with the trainer/assessor.

- Reporting requirements in education and children’s services
- Debriefing and evaluation of response to critical incidents
