Recognition Prior Learning (RPL), Credit Transfer (CT) and National Recognition
The course will be pre-empted by any learning achieved through formal education and training (credit transfer) and learning achieved outside the formal education and training system (RPL), or recognition of AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by training organisations registered in any Australian jurisdiction as described in the Student Handbook.
Training and assessment arrangements:
This accredited course is delivered in three (3) formats, all of which provide participants with the knowledge and skills to confidently recognise and respond to an emergency situation requiring first aid.
- One Day course with on-line learning completed prior to the one-day practical workshop.
- Two Day course (7hrs each day over 2 days) to support LLN needs of participants, or remote area time constraints.
- Other course formats we deliver courses in various formats to meet the needs of workplaces and the participants, please contact us to discuss your needs.
The one day course is conducted in English and applicants must possess functional written and spoken English skills. Practical training will be delivered face to face, either on site or at our training rooms. The practical training is delivered in one face to face session of eight (8) hours, at a time to suit the facility or the majority of the participants.
The pre-course work taking approx six (6) hours includes an on-line "workbook" (including video and written material) can be progressed in one or multiple logon/logoff sessions, providing a self paced flexible method of learning the theory of First Aid in the comfort of one's own home, at work, or wherever an internet connection is available. You will also complete a;
- workplace Asthma/Anaphylaxis checklist, as well as a
- Asthma and Anaphylaxis risk assessment prior to the practicum, which are best completed with your workplace (or based on the scenario's provided).
Our First Aid educator observes the participants application of skills and knowledge throughout the face to face practical session, during simulated emergency scenarios, contextualised to the candidate's workplace/community settings, and other skill stations, throughout the one-day face to face session.
Participants will need the ability to meet the physical demands of providing resuscitation. CPR assessment requires candidates to perform at least two (2) minutes of single rescuer uninterrupted CPR on both an adult + child resuscitation manikin placed on the floor as well at least two (2) minutes of single rescuer uninterrupted CPR on an infant resuscitation manikin placed on a firm surface. Participants will also work in a small team to demonstrate a rotation of operators with minimal interruptions to compression's, while applying an AED during an emergency CPR scenario, on an adult or child resuscitation manikin placed on the floor.
The two day course is designed to support participants who believe they will have difficulty completing the on-line learning and knowledge assessment, or may require additional LLN assistance. The Two day course is specifically designed for delivery in remote locations where workplace or other time restrictions preclude full day attendance. Theory assessments are delivered verbally to participants, on prior arrangement.
Students under 18 years of age must provide written permission to attend the course from their parent or guardian.

Fees are payable though the website or at our office by credit card (Visa/MC), cash or purchase order, and may be tax deductible to eligible students. Should the NT Government and industry bodies make Scholarships available, we will assist you to apply.

Text Books & Learning support
All participants receive a hard copy reference book to assist you in maintaining your knowledge over time. LLN support can be provided to participants on request, which includes additional face to face time with the trainer/assessor.

1 competency unit is required for award of this qualification, with content including:

- Differences between adults and children for provision of first aid

- Airway management, including infant airway
- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (1 & 2 person, Adult, Child & Infant)

- Infection control and First Aid for minor wounds
- Risk management for asthma and anaphylaxis

- Burns and electric shock
- Eye and soft tissue injuries
- Venomous bites and stings
- Fractures and spinal injuries
- Head, chest and abdominal injuries

- Communicating details of an incident
