This course is conducted under the auspices of Allens Training Pty Ltd - RTO 90909who will be responsible for the quality and direction of all accredited training and assessment conducted by Redpath Education., as well as the issuing of Statements of Attainment for the units of competency on Allen's scope.

Course Information

First Aid (HLTAID011 Provide First Aid) qualifications should be renewed every three years, with refresher training in HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) undertaken annually.  ref; First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice.

This course applies to a wide range of settings where first aid emergencies may occur. It is relevant for people working in education, aged and community care, sport, outdoor recreation, travel and tourism, hospitality, industry enterprises as well as in home or other environments, delivered in town or at remote locations, and can also be tailored to suit your specific requirements.

Entry Requirements:

There are no prerequisite units. Participants will need the ability to meet the physical demands of providing First Aid, you must perform CPR on the floor, applying both breaths and compressions, .  Participants must possess functional written and spoken English skills to make accurate verbal and written reports in-class, to replicate reporting to emergency services and workplace supervisor.  Prior to the face-to-face practical training, you must have internet access and a current browser, as well as skills sufficient to follow a video learning program, and complete the on-line assessment questions pre-course work.

Training and assessment arrangements:

This accredited course is delivered in English (unless otherwise arranged), providing participants with the knowledge and skills to confidently recognise and respond to an emergency situation requiring first aid.  All courses are conducted either on site or at our training rooms, at a time to suit the facility or the majority of the participants.

  1. One Day course - 1 day face-to-face classroom training and assessment + 3-5 hours pre-course on-line knowledge learning & assessment.
  2. Two Day course (7hrs each day over 2 days) to support LLN needs of participants, or remote area time constraints.
  3. Other course formats we deliver courses in various formats to meet the needs of workplaces and the participants, please contact us to discuss your needs.

 This one day course includes an on-line learning and knowledge assessment (including video and written material) to be completed prior to the face to face session.  The on-line work can be progressed in one or multiple logon/logoff sessions, providing a self paced flexible method of learning the theory of First Aid in the comfort of one's own home, at work, or wherever an internet connection is available.

Our First Aid educator observes the participants application of skills and knowledge throughout the practical sessions, during various simulated emergency scenarios and skill stations both on and off the floor, (see Course Subjects below), including responding appropriately to written and verbal questioning, contextualised to the candidate's workplace/community settings.  You will have opportunities to discuss and reflect on your performance against the criteria during in-class scenario's.

CPR assessment requires candidates to perform at least two (2) minutes of single rescuer uninterrupted CPR on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor and an infant resuscitation manikin placed on a firm surface.  In a scenario, participants will also work in a small team to demonstrate a rotation of operators with minimal interruptions to compression's, while applying an AED during an emergency CPR scenario, on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor.  Participants will work collaboratively during on/off floor scenario's, incl; manage an unconscious, breathing casualty including appropriate positioning to reduce the risk of airway compromise, manually assess vital signs, and provide an accurate verbal & written report of the incident.

Hard copy reference books are available in class .  LLN support can be provided to participants on request, which includes additional face to face time with the trainer/assessor.

  • Head, neck and spinal injuries
  • Incident reports
  • Debriefing and review of critical incidents

Also encompassing use of Asthma & Anaphylaxis medication devices, the Automated External Defibrillation (AED), and special needs of remote area practice.
