Course Information

This Fire Warden course applies to a wide range of settings where emergencies requiring evacuation may occur, ie; physical threat, fire, flood, structural collapse, chemical spills or other industrial accident.  It is relevant for people working in health, community services, child care, hospitality, retail, manufacturing, warehousing, mining, tourism, entertainment, and other environments.  The training is conducted under the auspices and in partnership with APL Group Pty Ltd RTO 3586 t/as Australian First Aid.

Recognition Prior Learning (RPL), Credit Transfer (CT) and National Recognition

The program will be pre-empted by any learning achieved through formal education and training (credit transfer) and learning achieved outside the formal education and training system (RPL), or recognition of AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by training organisations registered in any Australian jurisdiction as described in the Student Handbook.

You may wish to have the learning and assessment outcomes of our Fire Safe training recognised within this course competency.

Training and assessment arrangements:

This accredited course is delivered in one four (4) hour session or one two (2) hour upgrade session, which provides successful participants with the knowledge and skills to confidently develop risk minimisation & management strategies and be able to respond to emergencies in your workplace and carry out safe evacuation.

The course is conducted in English with training delivered face to face, either on site or at our training rooms, at a time to suit the facility or the majority of the participants.  The course includes audio visual and written materials, and industry and individual participants are encouraged to include policies, procedures and documentation from their workplace, to better contextualise their learning.

Our educator assesses the participants application of skills and knowledge throughout the face to face session, through scenario, skill stations, written assessment and evacuation undertaken during the session.

The course is delivered and assessed in a format supportive of the needs of ESL participants, and is specifically designed for delivery in remote locations where workplace or other time restrictions preclude full day attendance.

Students under 14 years of age must provide written permission to attend the course from their parent or guardian.

Educators and learning support:

The course is delivered by local, qualified industry professionals, who recognise the needs of the individuals and embrace the principles of cultural safety in their teaching.

  • $150 per participant (min 5 participants), or upgrade your  Fire Safe training for $85 per participant (min 6 participants)
  • Corporate class bookings (POA) - max 12 per class with split classes up to 25 participants
  • Classes at our training room or at your workplace, on schedule or afterhours
  • Class size is limited to a max of 12 participants - unless otherwise arranged

Remote travel is additional to the course cost, and will be quoted on request

Text Books

All participants must complete pre-reading and return completed theory assessment materials, available from our office and taking approx one (1) hour, prior to the course.  LLN support can be provided to participants on request, which includes additonal face to face time with the trainer/assessor on completion of the one day session.

Course subjects:

A nationally-recognised Statement of Attainment will be issued to all successful participants which is required to be re-credentialed 12 monthly.

This course covers the competency required to implement the emergency response specified in the workplace emergency procedures or specified by a person at a higher level in the emergency control organisation.People who undertake this work will be working within the command, control and coordinate structure of the emergency control organisation, has been developed to cover the broad range of emergencies and workplaces as considered in Australian Standard 3745 2010, is part of a suite of eleven workplace emergency response units of competency that has three streams as well as part of the workplace evacuation stream.

This course provides the skills and knowledge to be able to respond to emergencies in your workplace and carry out safe evacuation and includes:

  • Alarms and warning systems
  • Emergency evacuation procedures for your workplace
  • Initiating an appropriate emergency response
  • Warden responsibilities
  • Post-evacuation activities
