This course is conducted under the auspices of Allens Training Pty Ltd - RTO 90909who will be responsible for the quality and direction of all accredited training and assessment conducted by Redpath Education., as well as the issuing of Statements of Attainment for the units of competency on Allen's scope.

Course Information

This course provides you with the skills and knowledge to interpret and apply medical terminology appropriately, by understanding and responding to instructions, carrying out routine tasks, and communicating with a range of internal/external clients in a medical environment.  This course is suitable for the general public, students and corporate clients delivered in town or at remote locations, and can be tailored to suit your specific requirements

Career Pathway:

Successful completion of this single unit of competence supports employment in a range of health care environments including hospitals, community care facilities, rehabilitation & respite centre's, infant and maternal health centre's and remote clinics to name a few.  Achieving competency in this unit allows workers to expand laterally into other areas of work and may also provide pathways between qualifications, and into higher level qualifications, in professional and administrative employment streams.

Recognition Prior Learning (RPL), Credit Transfer (CT) and National Recognition

The program will be pre-empted by any learning achieved through formal education and training (credit transfer) and learning achieved outside the formal education and training system (RPL), or recognition of AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by training organisations registered in any Australian jurisdiction as described in the Student Handbook.

Training and assessment arrangements:

This accredited course is delivered in two (2) formats, both of which provide successful participants with the skills and knowledge to interpret and apply medical terminology appropriately.

  1. The on-line course.
  2. The face to face course 

 

The on-line accredited course is self directed learning however participants should allow home study of at least 20 hrs, with work placement to be organised by the participant, of sufficient duration to facilitate completion of the assessments within a 3 month period.  The participant will timetable their learning requirements to complete their training within a 3 month period.

The face to face accredited course includes on-line workbook, lecture's and revision activities.  The training is delivered in 5 sessions of (2) hours at a time to suit the Facility, or the majority of the participants, and  participants should allow home study of at least 4 hrs per week for the course duration.

The on-line "workbook" (including video and written material) can be progressed in one or multiple logon/logoff sessions, provides a self paced flexible method of learning the theory of Medical Terminology in the comfort of one's own home, at work, or wherever an internet connection is available.

Applicants must possess functional written and spoken English skills at the level required within the unit of competency and package.

The Unit Delivery and Assessment Plan indicating the type and frequency of assessment, performance criteria and academic guides, will be provided at start of the course.No prerequisite applies to this Course.

Fees are payable though the website or at our office by credit card (Visa/MC), cash or purchase order, and may be tax deductible to eligible students.  Should the NT Government and industry bodies make Scholarships available, we will assist you to apply.
